The dissertation, submitted by doctoral candidate Qasim Ghalib Hassan, aimed to analyze the impact of natural and human geographical characteristics, particularly the physical and chemical properties of the soil and water quality, in the districts of Qurna and Zubair on determining the dominant agricultural pattern and the variation in crop composition within the study area.
The dissertation comprised five chapters, preceded by a general introduction that included the research problem, hypothesis, significance, objectives, and the temporal and spatial boundaries of the study area. It concluded with a set of findings and recommendations. The first chapter examines the natural and human geographical factors affecting soil and water characteristics in the districts of Qurna and Zubair. The second chapter discusses the qualitative characteristics of the soil in the districts of Qurna and Zubair, while the third chapter addresses the qualitative characteristics of the water in the study area. The fourth chapter is dedicated to studying agricultural patterns and crop composition in the study area.
The fifth chapter presents a statistical analysis of crop composition and its relationship to soil and water characteristics in the districts of Qurna and Zubair.
