A doctoral dissertation at the College of Education for Humanities at the University of Basra examined (The Image of Iraqi Society in the Governing Mindset of the Islamic State).
The dissertation, submitted by student Mukhlis Kamil Khalaf, aimed to reveal the image of Iraqi society in the ruling mindset of the Islamic State, clarify the nature of the relationship between society and the ruling authority, and uncover the extent of the practices adopted by the rulers towards Iraqi society, along with their accompanying social, ideological, and political dimensions. This contributes to providing an objective and scholarly analysis of this period, free from preconceived notions and ideologies.
The nature of the study necessitated its division into four chapters, preceded by an introduction, followed by a conclusion, and then a list of sources and references.
The study reached several conclusions, the most important of which is that the relationship between society and the ruling authority was characterized by negativity, estrangement, and discord. The primary reason for this lies in the authority's disregard for the ideological, social, and ethical standards upon which society bases its relationship with it. The study also revealed the authorities’ manipulation and fabrication of numerous pretexts and arguments to practice exclusion and displacement against Iraqis, in an attempt to legitimize these practices and obscure their true objectives.
