The Clinical Laboratory Sciences Branch at the College of Pharmacy, University of Basrah, organized a workshop titled (Occupational Safety and Health). The workshop included a lecture delivered by Dr. Anwar Abd Al-Hassan Abboud, in which she explained that occupational safety and health is a science dedicated to preserving human safety and health from hazards, diseases, and accidents arising from the performance of work, through providing objectives for an occupational safety and health program, in addition to providing means of protection from risks by obligating management to enforce the law and provide protective measures, as well as obligating workers to comply with safety requirements in the work environment. The goal of the workshop is to evaluate training and awareness in the field of safety and also to assess the safety conditions applied in the work environment, and there are several international safety standards, including (OHSAS, ISO, NEBOSH).
