Dr. Nawal Mohammed Assaf, a faculty member at the College of Education for Humanities at the University of Basra, participated in a scientific workshop on drugs and psychotropic substances, held in collaboration with the Basra office of the High Commission for Human Rights.
The workshop aimed to bolster prevention efforts, mitigate violence and risks facing children and youth, and raise awareness about the social, health, and psychological consequences of drug and psychotropic substance abuse.
The workshop—organized under the supervision of the Basra Provincial Council—included discussions on an action plan to prevent risks affecting children and young people. It also examined mechanisms for cooperation and coordination among relevant stakeholders, with the goal of enhancing community awareness and intensifying efforts to provide a safe environment for children and youth, while protecting them from various forms of violence and delinquency
