The College of Nursing at the University of Basrah, in cooperation with the Center for Development and Continuing Education at the University of Basrah, participated in an Internet seminar on (smoking throughout history is an antidote or disease, repercussions and solutions.( Prof. Sajjad Salem Issa, head of the community health nursing branch, lecturer Dr. Sundus Baqer Dawood, head of the fundamentals of nursing branch, and assistant lecturer Hussain Fakher, head of the continuing education unit at the college, participated in the symposium. The symposium aimed at explaining the health, economic and environmental risks of smoking, and the symposium included several axes, including (a historical and statistical introduction to smoking) in which Prof. Dr. Sajjad Salem Issa lectured, and (the effect of smoking on the body and the pregnant mother) in which the lecturer Dr. Sundus Baqer Dawood, lectured, and (the effect of passive smoking on children's health) in which Assistant Lecturer Hussein Fakher lectured, and the seminar was moderated by Dr. Walaa Mahmoud from the Center for Development and Continuing Education. In conclusion, interactive discussions took place between the participating professors and the attendees, and the symposium called for awareness of the dangers of smoking on health and life, and to increase education about the negative effects of smoking on society, and the recommendation was the need to intensify seminars and useful lectures that address societal phenomena. |
