A master's thesis in the College of Agriculture at the University of Basra discussed the effect of the technological characteristics of sprinkler and foliar feeding with zinc and iron on the growth, yield and quality of Maize. Researcher Median Shallal Radi's research included the use of three types of agricultural nozzles (the reference nozzle as control, the flat propeller nozzle, and the hollow conical nozzle) and spraying with zinc and iron with four concentrations.The results showed that the hollow conical nozzel was superior to the other two types in the coverage ratio and the number of drops deposited on the sensitive white leaves WPCs placed at the top, middle and bottom of the Maize plant, respectively. Treating foliar feeding with zinc and iron together, and it achieved the highest average grain yield.
The study aims to identify the effect of the technological characteristics of the sprinkler represented by the type of nozzel and the foliar feeding with zinc and iron on the growth, yield and quality of the maize crop.
The study concluded that adopting fertilization in the form of a mixture will enhances the plant's ability to grow and produce, with future studies being conducted with different concentrations of mineral elements to ensure their availability to the plant. The necessity of conducting future experiments on foliar spraying of the Maize with the use of a wide range of the properties of the solution used by spraying.Future research should focus on different sizes of hollow conical nozzles in different operating conditions to determine the maximum benefit of the nozzle type in improving the characteristics of vegetative growth and production, taking into account the amount of foliar solution when spraying and the amount of loss caused by the nutrient solution outside the intended area by spraying.
Emphasizing the necessity of replacing the reference species in use and resorting to hollow conical nozzles because of their prominent role in improving both the characteristics of the vegetative growth and production of the Maize.
