A doctoral thesis was discussed at the College of Engineering at the University of Basra (kinematic analysis of bridge floors using the finite element method).The thesis presented by the student (Huda Jawad Jasim) dealt with preparing a three-dimensional model based on the finite element method to analyze two main types of bridges with short spaces. Many parameters were also studied: the location of the load, the speed of the vehicle, the degree of road roughness, the height of the hump at the slab approaching the bridges. Straight and horizontally curved, the standard AASHTO HL-93 truck was simulated as a 3D model consisting of five blocks connected by lintels and supported by springs. Four different sections were
created to represent the surface roughness based on PSD. The final results were presented in terms of the IM factor, which is calculated according to the static and kinetic subsidence.

The thesis concluded that the values estimated by AASHTO LRFD are less than the IMs calculated for the bridge under the influence of decentralized loading conditions. Also, the value of IMs exceeds the values estimated by AASHTO for bridges with poor surface or in the presence of a hump at the start of the bridge
