The instructor at the Marine Science Center at University of Basrah, Dr. Zainab Judah Mousa, participated in the work of the workshop organized by the General Company for Ports of Iraq on (the impact of oil spills on Iraqi marine waters and means of control)
This participation included a review of the results of a research field study showing the extent of pollution in the mudflats area (silt) as a result of the accumulation of those spills
The lecture indicated that the mudflats area suffers from high pollution due to the continuous accumulation of hydrocarbons, which prompts us to stop these spills first, then treat the pollution that negatively affected aquatic life and marine economic resources
