Assistant Professor Dr. Laila Jassem, the teaching assistant at the College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah, participated in the workshop held by the College of Science at the University of Basrah, under the title (graphene and reduced graphene oxide), with the participation of researchers and specialists The workshop included a lecture given by Dr. Ola Al-Watar explaining the composition of the properties and uses of graphene. Where graphene was defined as a 2D crystal of carbon, which forms a honeycomb-like shape in each cell has six carbon atoms. Graphene possesses important and unique properties: it is harder than diamond, more flexible than rubber, and has more conductive properties than copper. It is used in solar cells, sensors, batteries and medical biochemistry as it has low toxicity. Graphene was also used in the manufacture of protective masks because of its properties, and graphene is hydrophobic in nature, and for this reason, scientists resorted to modifying it by adding dispersants that stick to the surface of the graphene and prevent its layers from sticking.
