
The College of Engineering at University of Basrah organized two electronic lectures presented by two instructors from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad in Iran
The first lecture was given by Dr. Hussein Maroufi, a specialist in architecture and urban planning
The lecture dealt with the planning of the cities of the holy shrines in Karbala, Najaf and Mashhad, and the possibility of re-planning to accommodate the visitors according to an architectural vision
The second lecture was given by Dr. Parsa Pahlavan, a specialist in architecture and sustainability
The second lecture included a discussion of architecture in the Middle East and the necessity of introducing sustainable buildings to achieve the optimal investment of resources
The two lectures witnessed a large attendance of students and teachers
