Our recent conference was not limited to activating the theoretical aspect of current research. It achieved an openness to other scientific knowledge by achieving cooperation between researchers from Iraq, Arab and foreign countries. The conference also touched on the difficulties and challenges facing the dental profession in Basra and ways to advance this profession to provide the best services to citizens.
Accordingly, our applied scientific conference under the slogan (Dentistry-Challenges and the latest scientific developments) for the period (24-26/5/2021) recommends the following:
1. - The necessity for professors to develop their vocabulary and curricula in line with the scientific development of dentistry globally, openness to scientific conferences in Arab and foreign countries, and enhance field participation in them.
2. - According to the directives of the President of the University to benefit from the coordinated cooperation between the College of Dentistry, Iraqi public and private universities, Arab and foreign universities, state departments and other ministries in a way that advances the scientific, academic and professional aspect of dentistry.
3. - Serious work to overcome the difficulties that the Faculty of Dentistry suffers from due to the shortage of teaching staff and infrastructure (from a private building in the faculty, and working on the development of advanced scientific laboratories to prepare students within the dental specialties to train students in line with the preparation of students and within a specific time limit to ensure that students receive academic and applied knowledge in all academic levels)
4. - Serious work and striving to open postgraduate studies in the College of Dentistry and in scientific and academic cooperation with the government and private dental colleges in Basra and neighboring governorates and benefit from e-learning in this field.
5. The demands of the presidency of the University of Basra to approach the Minister of Higher Education to increase the number of the first graduates to ten instead of three, in order to fill the shortfall in the number of teaching staff and to keep pace with the increase in the number of students to ensure that our students receive the training required in all dental specialties.
6. - Cooperation between the College of Dentistry and the Basrah Health Department in specialized cadres to fill the shortfall in the number of teachers in the college.
7. - Encouraging researchers to promote common concepts in scientific branches through holding seminars, lectures and courses that aim to exchange knowledge at the specialized level of dentistry and other sciences.
Based on the preceding, and after our scientific conference ended its sessions. Depending on the multiple observations and suggestions made by researchers and participants, it recommended to follow up and to ensure that we benefit from the efforts made at the level of application, and at the level of follow-up in our following scientific conferences.
