A theoretical and scientific study at University of Basrah prepared by the instructor Ali Abdul-Razzaq Abdul-Hussein at the College of Science in partnership with Prof. Dr. Majid Muhammad Jassim the instructor and Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs at the College of Education for Pure Sciences, examined scientific research on the electronic properties of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) under the influence of elastic mechanical deformation and under the influence of an external magnetic field
The study, which was published in the Dutch journal Physics B: Physics of Condensed Matter, which is classified within Scopus containers, showed that all types of mechanical deformation used and the external magnetic field lead to a change in the electronic properties of carbon nanotubes, as these properties depend on the incompatibility processing, the type of deformation used and the external magnetic field parallel to the axis of the nanotube
The study included calculating the electronic band structure of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs), current-voltage properties and electrical conduction under the influence of elastic mechanical deformation and an external magnetic field parallel to the axis of the nanotube
The results of the study concluded that the magnetic field effect may enhance or cancel the deformation effect and that the electronic transport properties depend mainly on the mirror symmetry that can be preserved or broken under the influence of elastic deformation or magnetic field
