The College of Dentistry in the University of Basrah held an interactive lecture within the Pedodontics branch under the supervision of the Assistant. Lecturer Dr. Hiyam Salah Ahmed.
The lecture was delivered by the students Yasmeen Abdullah Abdul Amir and Haider Mohammed Anon under the title ' The Uses of Nitrous Oxide Gas in Dentistry'
The lecture included a brief summary about Nitrous Oxide gas or what is known as' laughing gas' and what are it's uses and needs.
The lecture indicated that the laughing gas provides calm, relaxation and anesthesia Without going unconscious as it is very safe. Nitrous Oxide and Oxygen are administrated through the nose before starting any dental treatment.
The lecture also included that Anesthesia using Nitrous Oxide is the most common way. The reason behind it's usage is to eliminate fear and anxiety and prevents the reflex that can properly cause pain.
