The Department of English at the College of Education for Human Sciences at the University of Basra organized on Wednesday 23/6/2021 a panel discussion entitled "MTY - Literary Texts", which is the title of a book written by a student in the preliminary study / second stage (morning study).
The seminar, which was delivered by the student author (Masara Emad Abdel Sattar) to a group of the department's teachers, aims to shed light on the content of the book, its short texts, the method of translation and the student's literary career.
The discussion above dealt with how to use texts to explain part of the suffering of some people, feelings of sadness, psychological and physical fatigue, the miserable reality and the dull color of life for some people, which leads to the collapse of others when they realize how bad the reality is. Wounded, screaming, darkness, crying, misery, deception, death, melting and collapse, these were the words that describe the general atmosphere of the texts.
"My mind hates the past, rejects the present and fears the future. My heart has been stabbed with daggers for so long that I can no longer feel anything, while my mother is praying for me to recover, she does not even know that I am dead."
The student, Massara, talked about her literary career and the difficulties she faced until 2020, when her story, Lies, was published on social media and gained thousands of views and likes.
Some advice was given to the student by the department's professors regarding the Arabic language and the need to develop it, develop the student's writing talent, and encourage her peers to read and write as well.
Then the student was honored by the Dean of the College (Prof. Dr. Hamid Siraj Jaber) by giving her the Shield of Excellence, a letter of thanks and appreciation, and a symbolic financial reward.
