The College of Science at the University of Basrah organized a seminar on the molecular spread of the Torque teno virus (TTV) and SEN virus (SENV) in hepatitis patients and blood donors.
The study, which was discussed by master student Khaled Nasser Diwan, aims to detect the prevalence of TTV and SENV infections among hepatitis patients and healthy blood donors. The ELISA technique was used to detect hepatitis B and C, and PCR technology was also used for molecular detection of TTV, in addition to genotyping. for SENV including SENV-D and SENV-H and sequencing PCR products for TTV, SENV, and SEN-DH
The episode dealt with the detection of the high incidence of TTV and SENV infection in hepatitis patients and blood donors, for both sexes and for the age groups that ranged between 19 and 55 years.
The study recommended conducting further studies on the association of TTV and SENV with hepatitis idiopathic patients, he study also emphasized the introduction of rapid laboratory tests as a routine diagnosis of TTV and SENV infection to reduce transmission of these viruses through blood. or its derivatives.
