The thesis presented by the student Maitham Khaled Kateh dealt with a two-part study, the first includes the practical side, where the effect of different parameters on the behavior of thirty models was studied. These parameters or variables were: the ratio of the shear space to the depth of the whole, the total depth of the deep beams, and the length of the additional fixation after the supports
The samples for deep beams were divided into three groups, depending on the type of compressive strength and the details of anchoring the mooring. The first and second groups consist of concrete with a normal compressive strength of 29 MPa, As for the third group, it was made of concrete with a high compressive strength, with a value of 55 MPa
As for the second part of the study, it included the use of the STM method proposed in the American Code of 2019 and the finite element method. A nonlinear analysis of 3D models was performed using the ABAQUS program.
The thesis aims to investigate experimentally and theoretically the behavior of deep reinforced concrete beams associated with the failure of anchoring for longitudinal tensile iron.
The thesis concluded that the gradual reduction in the length of the additional fixation after the bolsters leads to a reduction in the final loads that cause failure due to the reduction in the strength of the bonding between iron and concrete outside the knot areas, and a great agreement was found between the laboratory and theoretical results.
