The Department of Food Sciences at the College of Agriculture, University of Basra, organized a scientific workshop on osteoporosis and the role of healthy nutrition in preventing it The workshop aimed to show the most important factors contributing to this disease and preventing it through the use of diets that provide the body with vitamins, protein, calcium and calories it needs. The workshop, which was attended by all of the A.M.D. Alia visit Hashem M.D. high beautiful ali M.D. Wael Ali Sawadi Al-Waeli And on the Free conference Call platform on Monday, 19/7/2021 at 10 am Three main axes, where the first axis dealt with an introduction to osteoporosis as well as the most important changes in bone mass over life, while the second axis dealt with the basic systems involved in building bones and the most important factors affecting their absorption, while the third axis dealt with providing an integrated weekly diet to prevent from Osteoporosis At the end of the workshop, the lecturers were invited to: 1- Measurement of bone density and bone mineral content by X-ray because of its importance in reducing fractures 2- Encourage physical activity and exercise, as it is one of the most important ways to maintain good health and a strong body, as it helps maintain bone density and strengthen muscles. 3- Use a healthy diet rich in vitamins and minerals necessary for building bones. 4. To quit smoking and alcohol because of their negative effects on the bones. 5- The need to avoid exposing ourselves to falls, and to avoid carrying heavy weights, which can harm the health of bones, especially the spine. 6. Exposure to the sun for a period not exceeding 15 minutes a day, between eight and ten in the morning, during the day, for 3 days a week 7. You should consult your doctor if you take these supplements or any other supplements with the medications he prescribes, because many of them interfere with the absorption of calcium 8.
