The environmental team at University of Basrah, in cooperation with Abi al-Khasib municipality, carried out the process of dredging the Sherbet river in Abi al-Khasib area
The team, consisting of the mechanical and human effort, and under the direct supervision of the Director of Abi Al-Khasib Municipality, Mr. Jamal Al-Tuwaiher, carried out the process of dredging the river and removing the waste stuck in it, as the river was a dumping of environmentally polluting waste
The University President Dr. Saad Shahin Hammadi stressed the need to develop strategic plans for sewage projects in all regions of the province in a manner that serves to improve the environmental situation of Basrah Governorate, and that the process of dredging and cleaning rivers is an important matter to reduce the pollution of Shatt al-Arab water
