A scientific study was conducted at University of Basrah by the instructor at the College of Science, Muhammad Salem Mwail, entitled (Adopting the Water Quality index to assess the validity of groundwater in Al-Zubair city southern Iraq for drinking and human consumption)
The study, which was published in the Journal Environmental Conservation, classified within Scopus containers Q4, showed that the use of the Water Quality Index is an efficient tool in monitoring and evaluating the quality of groundwater within the study area
The study included the detection of the validity of the wells, which are used by the people for drinking and other uses
The results of the study concluded that the groundwater in the study area varied in its quality and degree of local and seasonal pollution, depending on the different sources of pollution
