
The instructor at the College of Science at University of Basrah, Dr. Salah Shakir Hashem, won the Best International Patent Award in the Middle East for the year 2020 from the International Federation of Inventors (IFIA) in Switzerland
Dr. Shaker said that this patent is the first award granted to an Iraqi invention since the founding of the International Federation of Inventors so far, and this has been documented on their official website
Shaker added that the patent obtained for manufacturing a polymeric sensor for lead ions
The invention includes using the idea of a polymeric microprint to make a specialized mold for the copper ion that does not interfere with the rest of the ions and with a very high efficiency, and a polymeric sensor was manufactured for this purpose
