The faculty of Science at the University of Basrah did the Viva of a PhD thesis titled (Molecular detection of enterotoxins genes in Staphylococcus aureus isolated from clinical and dairy samples) for a student (Hanaa Daaj Khalaf Al-Mozan). The study included isolating of Staphylococcus aureus, examining the susceptibility of isolated bacteria towards some antibiotics, and testing the effectiveness of the clindamycin antibiotic against some enterotoxins and examination of the enterotoxins gene expression after treatment with clindamycin, and subjecting of the treated isolates to the susceptibility test. Moreover, the study aimed to diagnose the enterotoxins in Staphylococcus aureus and investigate the relationship that may connect enterotoxins with resistance of bacteria to the antibiotics. The study concluded that there is a possible relationship between the enterotoxins secreted by bacteria and the resistance of those bacteria to the antibiotics, the clindamycin antibiotic has two opposite effects, it is an activator of enterotoxin B and an inhibitor of enterotoxin G, and the presence of mutations in enterotoxins H and G. The study recommended testing the effectiveness of another substance against enterotoxins and providing high-accuracy devices in routine laboratories to ensure food safety and community health.
