The University of Basrah organizes a seminar on the Moringa Oleifera plant
The College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah organized a seminar on the Moringa Oleifera tree.
The seminar, presented by Lecturer Anwar Hamad Ali, aimed to highlight the plant's health and medicinal importance and to encourage its cultivation, particularly as it requires minimal care compared to its numerous benefits. It can be used as food and its leaf and seed extracts can be employed for the prevention of certain diseases, combating inflammations, and treating anemia.
The seminar discussed the economic and medicinal benefits of the Moringa Oleifera plant and the possibility of utilizing all parts of the plant in the food, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical industries. It also outlined the active compounds in the essential oil extracted from the plant's leaves and seeds, their biological activity as antibacterial, antifungal, and antioxidant agents, and their use as dietary supplements rich in minerals and vitamins.
