A Master's Thesis at the University of Basrah Seeks to Evaluate the Safety and Efficacy of Combining Dapagliflozin and Furosemide
A master's thesis in the College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah sought to evaluate the safety and efficacy of combining dapagliflozin and furosemide in individuals with acute heart failure and diabetes type 2.
The thesis presented by the student Hana Jassim Dohi aimed to determine whether the treatment is safe and effective in improving clinical and biochemical parameters within the first 24 hours in patients with ADHF and type 2 diabetes (DMII) who have a lower left ventricular ejection fraction.
The thesis included a study of the inhibitor dapagliflozin, which is a sodium-glucose cotransporter-2. It helps in early hospitalization due to acute heart failure in treating sodium excretion in the urine, removing congestion, and safely transitioning to effective outpatient treatment for both diabetes and heart failure.
