Dr. Muhannad Hamid Aboud, the representative of the University President and Director of the Scientific Affairs Department, said, "These days we are marking the fifth anniversary of the passing of the blessed martyrs, following the atrocious crime perpetrated by the American aggression against them at Baghdad International Airport, where they fell as martyrs on the field of honor, dignity, and pride. We gather to honor them and express our condolences to ourselves, the Islamic world, and all of humanity for the loss of these heroes. Blessed are they for this victory, for that sacrifice, for that honorable end, and for boarding the ship of Hussein, peace be upon him, and joining the caravan of Husseini love."
The memorial ceremony included the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran and the reading of the blessed Surah Al-Fatiha in honor of the souls of the two martyrs and the souls of the sacred Popular Mobilization martyrs. The event featured enthusiastic speeches and patriotic folk poetry passionately recited by poets in love for the homeland and in defense of their beliefs and sanctities. There was also a performance by the Fatemiyoun group, a celebration of the achievements made by the student team "Innovators from My University," and a short film depicting the story of courage, sacrifice, and devotion.
