University of Basrah Hosts a Training Workshop on Environmental and Energy Management
The College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah hosted the training workshop (ISO50001 Energy Management
and ISO14001 Environmental Management) as part of the initiative launched by the Council of Ministers to support energy and reduce emissions.
The aim of launching the national initiative is to support energy sustainability by rationalizing consumption on the one hand and efficient consumption on the other hand and contributing to meeting Iraq's requirements under the Framework Convention on Climate Change, reducing emissions and preserving the environment, as well as sustaining energy efficiency and achieving sustainable development goals.
The workshop included a lecture given by the Director of the Quality and Institutional Development Department in the Southern Electricity Production and the representative of the National Initiative to Support Energy and Reduce Emissions, Mr. Ali Abdul-Hassan Madhoush, on climate change and its effects, and focused on its relationship to the National Energy Initiative, the issue of global warming and air pollution resulting from burning fossil fuels, reviewing official statistics on these effects.
