Master's Thesis at University of Basrah Explores Spider Biodiversity
A master's thesis in the College of Science, University of Basrah, explored the biodiversity of spiders on the plants of East Hammar Marsh.
The thesis, presented by student Rawa Khalid Abdul Razaq, aimed to survey and identify spiders and study the abiotic factors affecting their presence over a full year from 2022 to 2023.
The study involved using various environmental indicators to assess spider biodiversity in the area and recorded seven species of spiders from four different families, two of which were recorded for the first time in Iraq.
The study recommended intensifying and continuing research to understand the biodiversity of invertebrates in the East Hammar Marsh area.
