University of Basrah organized a symposium on the causes and impacts of illegal immigration.
The General Secretariat of the Central Library, in collaboration with the Faculty of Law at the University of Basrah, organized an educational symposium about the causes and effects of illegal immigration and ways to address it.
The symposium, delivered by Dr. Firas Abbas Hashim, aimed to spread awareness of the risks of illegal immigration and its societal, economic, and political impacts among academic circles.
The symposium included an introduction to the concept of illegal immigration, the measures taken by countries to reduce the phenomenon, and the human rights violations that migrants may face during their migration journey. It also addressed the penalties imposed by countries on migrants for crossing international borders without permission or with forged documents and visas. Furthermore, the discussion covered the potential exposure of migrants to various crimes in host countries and the inability of these countries to legally protect them.
