The President of University of Basrah Inaugurates Iraq's First Virtual Dissection Table
The President of Basrah University, Dr. Muhannad Jawad Khan Kazem, inaugurated the virtual dissection table project at the College of Medicine with 4K technology and high-definition clarity, in the presence of academic and official representatives. This technology has been introduced for the first time across Iraqi universities.
Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kazem stated that the inauguration of the virtual anatomy lab is a great step towards developing the practical and scientific reality for medical students, enhancing their skills as it simulates real-life dissection using advanced technology.
The importance of this table lies in providing an interactive virtual educational environment in human anatomy. It contains several specialized programs to assist students in reaching the most precise details of human body parts and delving into information about each segment.
Virtual tables are considered a comprehensive system of hardware and software components. The hardware includes educational tables, a high-resolution projector, and the instructor’s platform (seven-core) that is highly resistant to scratches, fractures, and liquids and can withstand high temperatures and long operating hours. The software part consists of virtual anatomical programs and licensed lecture management software. These components are connected via an internal wired network system to facilitate lecture management by the instructor and practical application processes for students.
