University of Basrah Organizes a Dialogue Seminar on Cyber Extortion, Its Effects and Ways to Avoid It
The College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah organized a dialogue seminar on cyber extortion, its effects and ways to avoid it.
The seminar, delivered by Dr. Rafeef Abdul-Hafiz Muhammad Taqi, a lecturer at the College of Education for females, aims to introduce students to the concept of cyber extortion, its types, and how to avoid and deal with it.
The seminar included a definition of cyber extortion and its causes, including unemployment and poverty, its types, including utilitarian and material, its effects on the individual and society, and solutions to eliminate and protect against it, including activating the two-step verification feature, activating the anti-virus system, not opening any link or email from an unknown party, not leaving the phone with children, turning off the camera when not needed, and not registering electronically except on trusted sites.
In addition to not surrendering and obeying the extortionist's orders, and going to the nearest police station to report such cases.
