For the sustainable development of the environment and the preservation of natural resources, University of Basra organizes a course on calculating the discharge time of estuaries
The Marine Science Center at the University of Basra organized a training course on calculating the discharge time of estuaries.
The course, which was lectured by teacher Sadiq Salem Abdullah, aimed to benefit from calculations in the sustainable development of the aquatic environment and coastal engineering, and provide new insights into the complex dynamics of estuaries in order to make accurate decisions for their protection and sustainability.
The course included a definition of the importance of estuaries as they represent an economic, commercial and tourism wealth and a suitable environment for the reproduction of biology and fish, and how to calculate the discharge time, which is the time required to replace the water mass in the ecosystem, which is done in two ways, the first called the freshwater part and the second the tidal method.
