University of Basrah Organizes a Discussion Session on Honey Bees
The College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah organized a discussion session on climate change and its effects on honey bees.
Presented by Dr. Amjad Abbas Fadhel, the session aims to show that climate change accelerates the disappearance of species and that the decline in bee numbers threatens global food security.
The session discussed the causes of these changes, some of which are natural and some of which are industrial, such as the increase in the number of vehicles, deforestation, and chemical fertilizers.
The session also touched on some solutions to reduce the negative effects of climate change, the most important of which are promoting sustainable agriculture, protecting natural habitats, and establishing gene banks for bees to preserve biodiversity.
