University of Basra organizes symposium on illegal immigration
The Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Basra organized a specialized seminar entitled "Illegal Migration and its Representations in Cinematic Films".
The seminar aimed to shed light on the various motives for illegal immigration, including economic, political and religious ones.
The seminar, presented by Dr. Alaa Hatem Mohsen, reviewed the social and cultural repercussions of this phenomenon, analyzed the main causes of illegal immigration, reviewed the most prominent cinematic representations that documented this phenomenon and its impact in shaping public awareness about the issue, and discussed the human dimensions associated with immigration and its impact on both host and expatriate communities.
