University of Basra organizes a scientific trip to Sidra Nursery
The Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Basra organized a field visit for fourth stage students to Al-Sidra Nursery, which is one of the nurseries specialized in breeding and producing indoor plants, accompanied by a number of professors of the department specialized in the fields of plant diseases, insects and nematodes.
The trip aims to enhance the students' understanding of applied agricultural projects by linking the theoretical and practical aspects of plant protection, in addition to developing their expertise by interacting directly with the agricultural environment and the challenges it faces.
The visit included an overview of the most prominent fungal and insect diseases that affect plants, as well as methods of diagnosis and prevention. Infected plant samples were also collected for analysis and diagnosis of the fungi causing them in a practical manner.
This visit comes within the framework of the college's efforts to enhance applied learning and prepare agricultural staff capable of meeting the needs of the market and keeping abreast of scientific developments in the agricultural field.
