University of Basra organizes a seminar on type 2 diabetes
The Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Basra organized a seminar on statins and the risk of type 2 diabetes.
The panel discussion included a lecture by Dr. Shaimaa Nadim, in which she explained that statins are the gold standard treatment for the prevention of primary and secondary cardiovascular diseases, which are the leading cause of death worldwide and despite the relative safety and tolerability of statins.
The lecture recommended that patients receiving statin therapy should be clinically monitored by physicians in order to ensure early diagnosis and appropriate management of diabetes.
