University of Basra doctoral dissertation investigates the shear behavior of composite concrete
A PhD thesis at the University of Basra investigated the shear behavior of composite concrete - corrugated steel mesh and box girders.
The thesis, submitted by student Mariam Ibrahim Juma, aims to study the behavior of composite bridges with aspects of corrugated sheets because of their benefits from the practical, economic and durability aspects.
The thesis included a study of the effect of the corrugation angle in the sides of the iron structure and the state of the corrugation, and the results showed that the more the angle increases up to 90 degrees, it gives good results and more resistance to the bridge in general, and replacing the iron with another with higher properties gives good results in terms of adding web reinforcing plates.
