University of Basra master's thesis examines geotechnical property modeling and construction safety zoning
A master's thesis at the University of Basra's College of Engineering investigated the modeling of geotechnical properties and construction safety zones using GIS and Building Information Modeling (BIM) techniques at a site in Basra as a case study.
The thesis, submitted by student Reem Zaid Qahtan, aims to study the correct employment of Building Information Modeling (BIM) methodology in the field of geotechnical engineering on the soils of Basra Governorate.
The thesis included proposing a methodology for modeling soil layers in three dimensions and estimating properties in unstudied sites in order to reduce cost and effort and facilitate the model management, planning and size estimation as well as reducing drilling accidents because the area is divided according to the Occupational Health and Safety Management Regulation.
