University of Basra's Master's thesis investigates the synthesis of green nanoparticles for the control of houseflies
A master's thesis at the Faculty of Science at the University of Basra investigated the synthesis of green nanoparticles and their use in controlling houseflies (Musca domestica L.) and studying their synergistic effect with active compounds in some of the plants used.
The thesis submitted by the student Mawaheb Jassim Abdul-Zahra aims to test the effectiveness of the manufactured nanoparticles in controlling the disease-carrying houseflies by treating both the first and third stage larvae using the feeding method and the adults using the contact method.
The study concluded that the synthesized nanoparticles were highly efficient in killing the tested insect stages and adults at low concentrations and with statistical differences compared to plant extracts.
