University of Basra master's thesis examines detection of antimicrobial resistance
A master's thesis at the University of Basra's College of Veterinary Medicine investigated the molecular detection of antimicrobial resistance by genetic combinations in Escherichia coli isolated from clinical and environmental sources in Basra.
The thesis aimed to study the type and percentage of the presence of genetic fusions in Escherichia coli resistant to several antibiotics from human, animal and environmental samples.
The thesis included the isolation of Escherichia coli samples resistant to three antibiotics, and the presence of these isolates containing integrons (1,2,3) and the correlation of the presence of these integrons with antibiotic resistance.
