University of Basra organizes a lecture on social life in ancient Iraq
The Faculty of Arts at the University of Basra organized a lecture on social and religious life in ancient Iraq in the Hellenistic era (323 BC-224 AD)
The lecture aims to review the manifestations of the Hellenistic civilization, its customs, traditions and culture, as well as the political and military situation during that era.
The lecture, presented by researcher Ali Jassim Mohammed, included the social and religious aspect, highlighting the multi-ethnicity in ancient Iraq, where the region included Assyrians, Jews, Greeks, Macedonians and Persians, as well as the policies of the Seleucid rulers towards religious beliefs and temples.
