University of Basrah Organizes a Seminar on the Aesthetic Dimensions of Iraqi Quranic Recitation
The Basra and Gulf Studies Center organized a seminar on the aesthetic and spiritual dimensions of Quranic recitation in the Iraqi way.
The seminar, in which Dr. Ali Najem Abdullah Mishari lectured, discussed how to employ Iraqi musical maqams in Quranic recitation, which dates back to the Abbasid era and is also called (the Iraqi Way), which is considered as a part of the authentic and distinctive Iraqi religious and artistic heritage due to its emotional and spiritual impact on the listener, enhancing communication between religious heritage and music in society, which works to preserve the Iraqi cultural identity from extinction.
