A Master's Thesis at the University of Basrah Examines the Effect of Stevia Powder on Productive Performance in Chickens
A master's thesis at the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Basrah examined the effect of stevia leaves powder on productive performance, digestive enzymes, intestines and quality of broiler chicken meat.
The thesis submitted by the student Zainab Khaleel Ibrahim aimed to study the effect of stevia leaves powder on growth performance, digestive enzymes and quality of broiler chicken meat as an alternative additive to feed to improve health and performance.
The thesis included preparing stevia leaves as a dry powder added to feed provided to broiler chickens because it is considered one of the medicinal herbs used in preventive nutrition that benefits the health of the bird and works to increase productivity because it contains active compounds such as flavonoids that act as antioxidants that protect the bird's body against diseases by increasing immunity and the effectiveness of antioxidant enzymes in addition to improving the intestinal microflora, which benefits the increase in bird productivity.
