University of Basrah Discusses Joint Cooperation with the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China
President of the University of Basrah, Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kadhim, discussed ways of joint cooperation with the Chinese Consul General in the province, Mr. Chen Bi-zhong, in the academic, research and cultural fields and activating memoranda of understanding between Iraqi and Chinese universities in the presence of advanced staff at the university.
Mr. Chen Bi-zhong stated that Iraq is one of the first Arab countries to establish diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China and that China and Iraq are two countries with ancient civilizations and great potential to enhance cultural and scientific exchanges to strengthen ties between the two peoples and that he will work in the future with all parties, including the Academy, to exchange scientific, practical and technical expertise to crystallize mutual learning between different civilizations and share their beauty.
Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kadhim Al-Asadi stated that we discussed many topics with the visiting diplomatic delegation, including China's support for researchers at the University of Basrag and publishing their research, providing the College of Medicine with specialized equipment, providing scholarships for postgraduate students, activating the visiting professor's memorandum, opening a specialized center for teaching the Chinese language, in addition to training graduates and finding job opportunities for them in Chinese oil companies.
Al-Asadi added that during the meeting, we discussed the actual partnership in the field of climate change in Iraq and Basra Governorate in particular, and the reasons for the rise in water and soil salinity levels with the exacerbation of the phenomenon of global warming and the lack of rain.
