Basra University organizes a workshop on the history of religious beliefs among the Turks
The Faculty of Arts at the University of Basra organized a workshop on the history of religious beliefs among the Turks.
The workshop aims to introduce the religious beliefs of the Turks from ancient times through Ottoman history to the present day.
The workshop included the presentation of several research papers during which the researchers showed the role of gods in human life and once the Ottoman era came, Islam became the main religion and the Ottoman Sultan officially bore the title "Caliph" and that religion was an essential part of the Ottoman state, but it was not the only one within the state and the Ottomans were characterized by the integration of religion and politics through strong religious institutions.
