A scientific study at the University of Basrah, prepared by the lecturer Dr. Hussein Abd Saud in the College of Science at the University of Basrah, discussed the developmental defect in limb growth from the ectoderm resulting from a point mutation in the edaradd gene.

The study, which was published in a journal classified within the Clarivate and Scopus databases, and located within the first quarter (Q1), Scientific Report, for limb loss, identified one of the point genetic mutations that causes the developmental defect scores 6.5
