Master's thesis at the University of Basra examines cash in inflation and economic growth rates
A master's thesis at the Faculty of Management and Economics at the University of Basra, entitled (The impact of the speed of money turnover on inflation and economic growth rates in Iraq for the period 2004-2022)
The thesis, submitted by the student (Muhammad Fahad Khashan Al-Sharifi), aims to find out the relationship between inflation and economic growth in Iraq, in addition to analyzing the developments in the previously mentioned variables during the study period.
The thesis concluded that the speed of money turnover in Iraq fluctuates between high and low, and the reason for this is due to the change in its components. The average velocity of money turnover amounted to (3.1), which means that the demand for goods and services will double by (3.1) per year. The speed of money turnover did not stimulate economic growth and was correlated with the inflation rate in a direct relationship, the reason for this is due to the inflexibility of the productive system in Iraq.
