University of Basra faculty member publishes scientific research in a journal in England under the Scopus classification
Dr. Ammar Yasser Jassim, an instructor at the University of Basra Marine Science Center, published a scientific research in collaboration with other researchers entitled "Synthesis and characterization of titanium copper oxide nanomaterials and evaluation of their multiple biomedical applications for antibacterial, biofilm, cancer and hospital-acquired pneumonia" in the journal RSC Advances, published by the Royal Society of Chemistry.
The journal, which is affiliated with the Royal Society of Chemistry, has been publishing research in chemical, physical and earth sciences since 2011.
The research, published in Scopus 1Q with an impact factor of 3.9, addressed the possibility of using nanoparticles for biological and pharmaceutical purposes as antimicrobial agents due to their ability to penetrate bacterial membranes and disrupt biofilms.
The results showed that Cu2Ti2O5 nanoparticles can be synthesized and their effect on the growth of biofilms of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Klebsiella pneumoniae isolated from respiratory tract infections and cancer cells.
