For Sustainable Development in Protecting the Environment and Natural Resources, University of Basrah Organizes an Afforestation Campaign
The volunteer work teams at the Cultural Center at the University of Basrah, within the campaign for sustainability and development of the environment and protection of soil from desertification, maintained a group of gardens at the university by planting them with seedlings that are resistant to erosion factors and escalating climate changes in the Near East region of Asia.
The director of the center, Dr. Mushtaq Salem Abdul-Razzaq, said, "The efforts of the volunteer teams will lead to an increase in the area of hectares left without a green cover, and this will increase the beauty of the places and their suitability for producing oxygen to reduce the pollution in the air due to the pollution witnessed by the city of Basra through oil extraction operations."
