University of Basra researches a doctoral thesis on the preparation and characterization of some alkaline polymers
The Faculty of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Basra researched a doctoral thesis on the preparation and characterization of some alkaline polymers derived from isophthaloyl dichloride and studying their efficiency as adsorbent surfaces for treating contamination with some dyes and heavy elements from their aqueous solutions.
The polymers were characterized by spectroscopic and thermal techniques and used as adsorbent surfaces for the removal of Bismarck Brown Y and Congo Red dyes, as well as lead (II) and nickel (II) ions from aqueous solutions. The thesis also dealt with the study of factors affecting adsorption, calculation of isotherms, determination of constants, and calculation of thermodynamic functions for the recovery of adsorbed pollutants.
