A doctoral thesis at the University of Basra's Faculty of Agriculture examines the planning and environmental design of the outdoor spaces of oil company sites in Basra Governorate.
The thesis, by researcher Zahraa Abdullah Nasser, aims to develop an integrated framework for environmental planning and sustainable design of the open outdoor spaces of some oil company sites in Basra Governorate.
The study included three oil sites, for which an integrated field survey was conducted, information was collected and documented, environmental requirements were identified using geospatial techniques, and some proposed designs for these sites were prepared.
The study concluded that there is a need to increase the green areas in relation to the total area of each site, diversify the plants used in their outdoor spaces, and create a green belt around the buildings to provide a healthy and comfortable working environment.
