University of Basra organizes a seminar on the impact of salinity on date palms
The Palm Research Center at the University of Basra organized a seminar on the impact of salinity on date palms and ways to get rid of it.
The seminar, which was lectured by Dr. Hassan Abdul Imam Faisal, addressed the effects of physiological and morphological salinity on date palm trees, causing hormonal imbalance, low water potential, disruption of nutrient absorption and affecting the photosynthesis process, as well as its role in yellowing leaves, small size, low number and low fruit yield and quality.
The episode showed some treatment methods such as using soil improvers, spraying non-enzymatic antioxidants and using the drip irrigation method.
